1. Cranberry Juice

Drinking cranberry juice could be helpful in treating UTI. It is believed that the bacteria that causes this infection have fimbria (hair like) appendages that cling to the lining of the urethra.

However, the acidic substances present in cranberry juice makes it more difficult for the fimbria to stick to the urethra. This lessens the chance of infection and could prevent the bacteria from multiplying. Recent studies show that cranberry juice does help in treating UTI, and it works best for women who suffered the infection before. Though, there’s a need to drink a certain amount of it in order to experience its benefits.

  • Cranberry juice

Just stay away from cranberry juice that’s loaded with sugar and stick to natural ones. Drink a glass of thrice a day in order to prevent infections.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar

Being rich in potassium, enzymes, and other useful minerals, there’s no doubt why apple cider vinegar (ACV) could eradicate the bacteria causing UTI. Apple cider vinegar inhibits these bacteria from multiplying and spreading in the urinary system. With that, those who are suffering from UTI could use ACV as an antibiotic.

What you’ll need:

  • Apple cider vinegar

Directions:

Dilute 2 tablespoons of ACV. In order to sweeten it and make the taste more bearable, you could always add lemon juice and honey. Mix the solution and drink it twice a day. This drink could make the urine acidic, eliminating the bacteria causing UTI.

3) Indian Gooseberry (Amla)

What you’ll need:

  • A cup of water
  • 1 tsp. of Indian gooseberry
  • 1 tsp. of Turmeric

Directions

Add a teaspoon of Indian gooseberry powder and turmeric powder in a cup of water. Boil the solution until half of it evaporates. Drink it for thrice a day for 5 days.

Additional Tip: Eating fruits, such as lemons, oranges, guava, kiwi, bananas, melon, tomatoes, raspberries, and papaya are also advisable because they’re rich in vitamin C.

4. Baking Soda

  • Mix tea tree oil (around 6 drops) in 2 teaspoons of yogurt and pour it in warm bath water. Soak for 10 minutes and do this for about 10 days.
  • You could mix tea tree oil with sandalwood and juniper oil. Rub this mixture on your abdominal region and it could lessen the pain associated with UTI. This remedy should be done daily for 4 days.
